Recently I bought a rotten 300tdi Manual Disco with 2 days of MOT left on it. I drove that car over 400 miles in the last two days and had no problems with it at all, especially no overheating or coolant pressurizing. The engine was then removed from that car and fitted it to a good Disco rolling shell I have.

Correct idle speed is about 700-750rpm. There is a screwed rod and nut on the injector pump which is the stop for the throttle cable. It's obvious when you have a look. Loosen the nut (11mm from memory) and screw the rod in a bit (there's a slot in the end for a flat blade screwdriver) until you get about 750rpm showing with the engine warm.
1. No oil, no pressure: The oil pump needs to be drawing oil to build pressure, so start with the basics. Check the dipstick, top up to maximum and check the light again. 2. Bulb check: Next, check if the bulb has blown. I’m taking the dash out as we need to get to the bulb holder contacts next. 3.
Posted March 1, 2012. I might know a teensy bit about this. I bought a 300TDi engine that had been both boiled and fried (well, it was only £50) - then set about making it like a nice, new one As you have a running engine that is basically ok, but is tired and gutless, then rebuilding it isn't mental money.
The 2.5L Land Rover 200/300Tdi platform falls into an interesting space in the Bosch VE pump 4-cylinder diesel engine spectrum. On one end there are Volkswagen 1.9L TDIs chasing high RPM/high hp (5000+rpm, 300+hp). On the other are the Cummins 4BTs pushing huge torque figures at lower RPM (700+ ft lb at ~1800rpm).

The 300 TDI measured from same point at the rear of the block as the V-6 will just touch the fan shroud of the existing radiator. The 300 is a longer engine. I am planning on using a radiator/ intercooler set up from a series LR. The oil pans and pick ups are different on the South American 2.8 power strokes.
